What it really is: Rabastan Niles Lestrange
In BastLogic, he figures if he uses another name that’s really complicated, the Dementors won't be able to find him. He also goes by Bast, Rabast, Bastion, Bastie, and the million other little shortenings of his name.

Other Characteristics: Has the Dark Mark. Other than that, he looks about as scary as a kitten in a pile of yarn. However, he is as nutty as they come.
Physical Description: His build is slight, especially after serving all those years in Azkaban for the torture of the Longbottoms. Even before going to prison, he had always carried more of a Seeker's form than that of a powerful person. His nationality is English / French, evidenced in the odd structure of his face. He has the high cheekbones and clear features of the English with the softening about the jaw and tip tilted eyes of the French. Given his last name, there's probably little surprise in that he has a French ancestry. His hair is a rather dull shade of white (Hang around Dementors for fourteen years and see how quick your hair goes grey prematurely). To be fair, it was a dishwater blonde common in those a bit, shall we say, too familiar with their cousins in the first place. His eyes are an unremarkable shade of blue. He only stands 5'2 (who said Death Eaters have to be tall to be scary?) and prefers to be thought of as vertically challenged instead of short.
A person who saw Bast would probably forget him seconds later. He's not all that memorable to see. The only thing that may stay in mind is that Bast tends to watch people when they speak, making full eye contact. Some find this disquieting while others could care less. He’s simply not outstanding compared to others in the physical arena.
